What Made Me Love This Job

What made me love this job ….Event Management?

Let me start with a bit of statistics. According to a report by EY the total worth of Event Industry is going to be INR 5779 crore in 2016-17 FY which is a decent growth of 15% from last FY. And this business is managed by a little more than 500 organised event companies with an average of 84 employees per company. And 60% of the business comes from the Top 10 players in the market. So practically the entire event industry is run by merely 5000 employees. What are these people? Supermen and Superwomen?? If you compare Infosys and the event industry as per the revenue Vs manpower, one person in Infosys handles a business of 35 Lacs and in events it is 1.2 cr.. Whoa!!!

So what makes these crazy people stick to this job and grow the industry?

Do not get me wrong please…I am talking about flexibility not Liberty. We all have a bit of passion and creativity in us. A stagnant, boring routine job kills it all. Thanks to our job, we get lot more space to express our creativity and thought. No matter how many times we do late nights, we make our own party time …Who cares as long as passion drives it all.

Creativity does not stop at concept and colours. Here creativity takes wings at all levels. It is an extension of all that we do – beyond craftsmanship, technical and digital. We transform into artists as we get into an event. Every step is thought through and the experience it will give our audience. Imagine a Coldplay live show without a mesmerising background, a high quality sound and light and proper management of the enthusiastic crowd. Not possible at all. We do it all.

Who doesn’t like to travel? Most of the event managers stick to this job because they get to travel to new places, meet new people and network. Sometimes International locations.

As per survey an average increment in salary in other industries is 9.5 to 10 percent, whereas in media and event industry it is 16.1 percent. Yohooooooo!! So who does not like a hefty pocket with a bit of travelling around the world?

This is the most important driving factor in the life of an event manager which keeps him going sometime 48 hrs without sleep and food, literally. Without passion you cannot overcome the bumps and triumph when all seems lost.

So all I am saying is that I have learnt a lot from life but I have also learnt a lot from my job to balance my life. I learnt Excellent Time management, Resourcefulness, strong will with a level head.

That’s why I LOVE MY JOB.
